CAMANCHE — Bessie Mae Eggert, 89, of Camanche, died Saturday, January 24, 2009, at the Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial in Ormond Beach, Florida. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Camanche, with the Rev. Linda Keeter Schultz officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Johnston, Dan Johnston, Greg Edstrom, John Spitzmiller, Chance Kness, and Mike Chrestensen. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Bessie Mae Mackey was born on February 26, 1919, in Chadwick, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Jenny (Miller) Mackey. She married William C. Eggert on October 22, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa; he later died on December, 19, 1993. Bessie was a homemaker and enjoyed helping on the family farm with her husband for 30 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy (Dennis) Burke of Ormond Beach; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Alice Stiles of Dixon, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and son, Fred Eggert. The family requests that memorials be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Camanche.
