(May 8, 1917 - December 9, 2008)

Helen Katherine Green, 91, an 18 year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Silver Spring, MD for over 40 years died December 9, 2008 after a brief illness.
Born May 8, 1917 in Clinton, Iowa, she was a homemaker most of her life. Mrs. Green was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, MD and a former longtime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD. Her hobbies included travel, reading, needlepoint, cross stitch and football, especially the Redskins.

She was the beloved wife of the late Bruce Ivan Green, whom she married on December 28, 1940 and who died on January 14, 2000; mother of David Green of Flagstaff, AZ, Dennis Green of Laurel, MD, Robert Green of King George, VA, Roger Green of Edgewater, MD, Marilyn Mayo of Whittier, NC and Kathy Duvall of Edgewater, MD; sister of Robert Overkamp of Clinton, Iowa; also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to Helen’s Life Celebration on Thursday, December 11 from 7 to 9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, December 12 at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
