CLINTON — Catherine T. Walliker, 94, of Clinton, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 26th, 2009, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory with Pastor Bobb Barrick of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place on the family lot at Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the service time Monday at the funeral home. Catherine T. Walliker was born on April 11, 1914 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Wilbur and Lotta (Liquin) Walliker.Catherine was a 1930 graduate of Clinton High School. She then graduated from Wartburg College in 1934 where she obtained her Bachelors degree, continuing on to Iowa State where Catherine received her Master’s degree in Foods and Nutrition in 1938. She furthered her studies by attending the University of Wisconsin from 1939 to 1941.She was employed as a Research Technologist with Quarter Master Food and Container Institute for the United States Armed Forces in Chicago from 1946 to 1955, she was a Nutritionist in Research for the Toledo, Ohio Hospital and also had taught at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was active in the Chicago Branch Institute of Food Technologists, American University Women, American Home Economist Association, was a 60-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, University of Wisconsin, Iowa State and Wartburg College Alumni Groups, YWCA and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clinton. She is survived by a brother, Robert G. (Inge) Walliker of Clinton, Iowa; two nieces, Tiffany (Doug) Dawson of Midland, Michigan, and Sarah (Jim) Bengtson of Clinton, Iowa; two nephews, Frank Hickisch Jr. of Wheaton, Illinois, and Charles Hickisch of McLean, Virginia; six great nieces and nephews, and eight great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Kenneth, one sister Elizabeth Hickisch and one nephew. The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Alverno.
