Dick Lincoln (January 9, 1934 - January 16, 2009) DEWITT — Richard Lee “Dick” Lincoln, 75, rural DeWitt, died January 16, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, Iowa, from complications of a heart attack. The son of John and Edith (Seamer) Lincoln, Dick was born 1/9/34 in Clinton, Iowa. He attended a one room school east of DeWitt and graduated from DeWitt High School in 1952. From 1954 to 1957, he served in the United States Army. On November 27, 1954, he was united in marriage to Kay McGarry at St. Patrick’s Villa Nova. He farmed in Clinton County for 30 years and then owned and operated Dick’s Heating and Air until the time of his death. Dick enjoyed his work, traveling, sports and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He loved his family and was especially devoted to his grandchildren. Dick was a member of the DeWitt Evangelical Free Church. Survivors include his wife, Kay; children, Lori (Denny) McCormick, Shakopee, MN., Rick (Mary) Lincoln, DeWitt, Robert (Nancy) Lincoln, DeWitt, Lon Lincoln, Delmar, Mark (Diana) Lincoln, Los Alamos, N.M., Betsy (Michael) Loehr, Donahue; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter, Hazyl McCormick; his sister, Jean Allen, Davenport; Godchild, Melaine Burke; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Molly; and brother, Harold. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at DeWitt Evangelical Free Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 23, 2009, at DeWitt Evangelical Free Church at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Casey Danley and Pastor Kip Hamby will officiate. Private burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family.
