DEWITT — Margie Iola (Miller) Winey, 87, died on Tuesday, December 9th, 2008, in DeWitt, Iowa, at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt campus. Services will be held on Saturday, December 13th, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Nelson Funeral Home in DeWitt, Iowa. Reverend Larry Pruitt will be officiating at services. Visitation will precede the service on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Rick Hitchcock, Marty Clark, Jason Goddard, Jeremy Goddard, Lee Goddard, Logan Winey. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters; Jessica Geschke and Sierra Winey. Memorials may go to God’s Family Baptist Church, Grand Mound, Iowa.Margie was born in Cordova, Illinois, on September 21, 1921, the daughter of Homer and Amelia (Hansen) Miller. She married Wayne Winey on Sept. 13, 1949, in Preston, Minnesota. He died in July of 1998. They farmed near Charlotte for many years while raising three children. Margie was employed as a clerk for Stolpers in DeWitt for 27 years. She took an active interest in her grandchildren, just last week picking them up from school. She enjoyed camping while her husband was alive, was an active member of God’s Family Baptist Church, Grand Mound, Iowa, in her earlier years serving as church treasurer, and cherished her dog, her best friend, Spot. Those left to honor her memory are a son, Fred Winey, Lost Nation, Iowa; 2 daughters, Mrs. Cheri (Randy) Goddard, Horicon, Wisconsin, and Kathy Parrish, Taylor Ridge, Illinois; 2 sister-in-laws, Jane (Winey) Parmer, Wyoming, Iowa, and Gerry Miller, Davenport, Iowa, several nieces and nephews, 8 grand children and 10 great-grandchildren. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne; her son-in-law, Larry Parrish, 2 sisters and a brother.Online condolences may be sent to www.nelsoncfuneralhome.com.Death date: December 9, 2008
