FULTON, Ill. — Ruth Sheldon, age 92, of Fulton, IL, formerly of Clinton, died Saturday Dec. 20, 2008, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Ruth was born on Oct. 17, 1916, in Clinton County, IA, the daughter of Hans and Leone (Scharff) Greve. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1933. Ruth married Oster Schwartz on Oct. 4, 1936, in Clinton; he died in 1956. She later married Eugene Sheldon on Aug. 9, 1980, in Clinton, he died in 2005. She had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Robert R. Bell in Clinton, a X-ray technician at the Milwaukee Hospital and from 1963-1973 at Clinton Federal Savings and Loan, where she retired as vice president. She was a member of First Congregational Church and enjoyed knitting. Ruth is survived by her stepson, Allyn (Judy) Sheldon of Circleville, OH; a stepdaughter, Janice Sheldon of Mesa, AZ; three stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leon; and a sister, Ethel.Death date: Dec. 20, 2008
