CLINTON — Carolyn Boone Pickney, 76, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008, in Iowa City, after a brief illness. Carolyn returned to Clinton two years ago following the death of her husband, Charles (Chuck) Pickney, after living in Arkansas for 30 years. Carolyn was born in Flint, MI, on March 5, 1932, the daughter of Jack and Grace Boone. She graduated from Paragould High School. She and Chuck married in 1950 and lived in Clinton from 1968 through 1974. Carolyn was a homemaker during the majority of her children’s school years, then worked for many years in the floral wire service after moving to Arkansas in 1975. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her beloved dogs, Pepe and Heidi. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Arkansas Razorbacks, and A.S.U Indians fan. She was an active member of the Mercy Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church, Clinton. Carolyn is survived by two daughters, Lanie Raasch and her husband, Don, of Clinton; and Dawn Layer and her husband, Dennis, of Jonesboro, AR, two sons, Mike Pickney of Clinton and Casey Pickney and his wife, Irene, of Atlanta, TX; her five grandchildren, Heather Dehner, and her husband, Jerry; Keith Raasch and Lacy Pickney of Clinton, Lance Pickney of Texas and Callie Layer of Arkansas; and five great-grandchildren, including Brody and Jaxon Dehner of Clinton. Following her choice of cremation, a memorial service is planned for Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Clinton at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Glew officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or to the Animal Birth Control of Clinton, c/o Judy May, 2733 N. 4th St., Clinton, Iowa, 52732. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. Death date: Dec. 14, 2008
