The death of Thomas Madden occurred last Thursday June 28, at the home of his daughter Mrs. A. J. McNamara.
Thomas Madden was born in county Tipperary, Ireland, in 1837, and came to this country when a young man 26 years of age.
A year later he took up farming in Read Twp. and later moved to Cox Creek Twp. where he resided until his death.
In 1866 he was married to Ellen Wennessy of this place. To this union were born 5 children, Mrs. A. J. McNamara and Thomas Madden of Littleport, Mrs. John Feeney of Highland township, C. E. Roberts of Miles City, Montana, and one daughter Julia who died at the age of 13 years. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Madden was a man of good character and a faithful member of the Catholic church.
Funeral services were held Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Catholic church, conducted by Rev. Father Minogue.
He was laid to rest in the Sacred Heart cemetery south of town.
