Funeral services for Nickolas Johnson, 75, of St. Olaf, were held Tuesday afternoon, July 16, from the Norway Lutheran church. Burial was in the Norway cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Boyce officiated.
Johnson died Saturday, July 13, at the McGregor hospital following a stroke which he suffered on July 11.
A son of Nels and Sara Larson Johnson, he was born in Wagner township on June 06, 1882. On February 16, 1905, he was united in marriage to Betsy Johnson in Highland township. Johnson farmed and hauled cream in the St. Olaf area for many years.
Besides his wife he is survived by eight children: Mrs. Clarence (Stella) Peterson of Dubuque, Mrs. Alfred (Josephine) Gusta of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. John (Ruby) Waalk of Cedar Rapids, Henry of Elkader, Lillian of Guttenberg, Art of St. Olaf, and Clarence of St. Olaf. There are 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He also leaves two brothers, Albert Johnson of Sidney, Montana; Henry Johnson of St. Olaf, and two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Knudson and Mrs. Annie West, both of St. Olaf.
Pallbearers were Millard Olson, Clifford Christianson, Eldo Johnson, Lawrence West, Lawrence Grimm and Otto Gisleson.
