Mrs. Nancy Hall Bowles was born at Albany, N.Y., January 5th, 1839, and died at the home of her daughter, Miss Jennie E. Bowles, in St. Louis, June 21st, 1904, at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 16 days.
With her parents she came to Monona at the age of five years. Here she grew into womanhood, and on the 6th of January, 1858, was married to David D. Bowles. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom are living and are in prosperous circumstances.
A good woman, a kind and indulgent wife and mother, popular with all who enjoyed her acquaintance.
About twenty years ago the family moved to Cerro Gordo County. A few weeks ago Mrs. Bowles went to St. Louis for medical treatment, but the best of skill and the most earnest attentions could not stay the summons registered on the 21st. It was the final call, and recognizing its force, she was fully prepared and ready to go. Her life work is at an end; her rest is eternal Peace be unto her soul.
The remains were brought to Monona and the funeral service was conducted at the grave, Rev. Brown officiating.
