Funeral services for Mrs. James T. Kelleher, 81, were held from the Oelke funeral home at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning to St. Joseph church at 10 o' clock. The Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery.
Mrs. Kelleher died at Cedar Falls Wednesday morning, December 15. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.
Julia A. Upton was born on a farm near Elkader on June 26, 1867, the daughter of John and Amelia Upton. She received her education in the schools in Boardman township. On Sept. 19, 1893, she was married to James T. Kelleher. The couple lived in Volga from 1899 to 1909, when they moved to Clermont where they lived until 1932 when the moved to Elkader. Following the death of her husband in 1945, Mrs. Kelleher moved to Cedar Falls to make her home with her sons.
Mrs. Kelleher was a member of St. Joseph church in Elkader.
She is survived by two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Marie Mylan and Mrs. Ab Cheeseman, both of Earlimart, Calif.; Harold J. Kelleher, Cedar Falls; James J. Kelleher, Woodcliff Lake, N.J.; John L. Kelleher, Great Falls, Mont., and Kenneth T. Kelleher, Marion; and a brother and sister, Charles Upton, Volga, and Mrs. Emma Lamphier, Elkader; also 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were two daughters, Mrs. Vera Cooper and Blanche M. Kelleher.
Pallbearers were: Jerry Feeney, Leo Roach, Harry Kelleher, Chris. Meyer, Otto Gusta and Wm. Cheeseman.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Harold T. Kelleher, Cedar Falls; Kenneth Kelleher, Marion; John L. Kelleher, Great Falls, Mont.; James A. Kelleher, Woodcliff Lake, N.J.; Mrs. Jean Wold, Ames; and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Murghy, Gays Mills, Wis.
