Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sarah Gunderson, 88, at the Norway Lutheran church Tuesday, Jan. 27, with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Burial was in the Wagner township cemetery.
Sarah Rierson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rier Rierson was born July 09, 1860 at Numedal, Norway. She died Friday, Jan. 23, at her home of a heart condition after a week's illness.
On April 05, 1878, she was married to Ole E. Gunderson who preceded her in death in 1927. They went to housekeeping on a farm in Wagner township where she continued to live until her death.
Six children were born to them, namely: Mrs. Frank (Julia) Anderson, Arpin, Wis.; Mrs. Lovena Jellum, St. Olaf; Ralph, Clermont; Mrs. Thomas (Austie) Christianson, Des Moines; Gunder, at home; and Edward, who preceded her in death.
Surviving besides her children are 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Christine Mullin of Decorah.
Pallbearers were: Willis Jellum, Arnold and Dean Gunderson, Norris Rierson, Quentin Torkelson and Lloyd Niedert
