Funeral services for John West, 81, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Highland township Thursday morning, Sept. 12, were held at the Witt Funeral chapel at 1:30 Saturday afternoon to the Congregational Christian church at 2 p.m. The Rev. H. G. Kelly officiating.
Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
John George West was born in Highland township on August 19, 1865, the son of William and Elizabeth West. On Dec. 16, 1908, he was married to Miss Mary Robbins. Most of his life was spent farming. In 1895 he purchased the farm which has since been their home.
He is survived by his wife and one son, William Allen, on the home place, one daughter, Mrs. _. A. (Wilma) Wagner of Boardman township; three brothers, Edward and Richard West both of Elkader, and Ab West of Elgin, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Feller, Elkader, Mrs. Mary Cook, Elgin; Mrs. Anna Boland and Mrs. Maude Boland of California, and Mrs. Frances Schuld, Minneapolis; and two grandchildren, Anna Marie and John Wagner. A brother, Tom, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were: Will Paige, George Gregorson, William Orr, Ed Finley, Oscar Gregorson, and Millard Olson.
