LITTLEPORT: Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Reichart, 70, were held Monday, March 06, at the Hope Evangelical Lutheran church, Littleport, with the Rev. W. G. Weber officiating. Burial was in the Union cemetery at Littleport.
Anna Marie Backhus Reichart was born June __, 1879 in Garnavillo township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Backhus, Sr., and died at her home Saturday, March 04, in Littleport. She had been ill for the past two years.
On Feb. 1_, 1903, she was married to Charles Reichart at Garnavillo. To them were born three children, Harley, Littleport; Milton, Balltown; Eileen (Mrs. Arne Cords), Garnavillo.
She attended the rural schools of Clayton county and was a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge and the Hope Lutheran church.
Survivors include her husband, the above named children, one brother, Henry Backhus, Jr., Garnavillo; two sisters, Mrs. Max Meyer, Garnavillo and Mrs. Henry Miller, Manly, Iowa.
Pall bearers were Ray Hughes, William Refle, Louie Henricks, Louis Winch, Clarence Kuehl and J. P. Zapf.
Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ellners of Postville; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kuehl, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kuehl and Mrs. Viola Otterbeck of Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. George Hubbard of Elkader; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Voelker of Ryan; and Wm. Koehn of Chicago.
