GARBER: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hansel were held Saturday afternoon from the home and Fairview church with the Rev. Fred Riggs of Ames officiating, assisted b Rev. Stern of Fredericksburg.
Pallbearers were: Steve Patrick, Ray Whitnable, Dean Mallory, Ed Feidt, Leon Harbaugh and Lyman Hansel.
Mary Elizabeth, oldest of the five children of Enoch and Julia Oldham, was born in Mallory township, Clayton county, Iowa, on May 30, 1869. She died at the hospital in Dubuque on September 23, 1942 at the age of 73 years, three months and 23 days.
She united with the United Brethren church at Fairview in her early girlhood. She was united in marriage to William J. Hansel on Dec. 26, 1900. Their home was established on a farm in Mallory township, which remained their home until it was broken up by the death of the husband and father two years ago in August. Two sons were born to this union, Loran Clark, who died in infancy, and Cedric, who is left to mourn the loss of his mother.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters besides the aforementioned. She is survived by one son, Cedric, one granddaughter, Florine, and one sister, Lavina Oldham of Riverside, Calif.
