Military funeral services for Earl L. Kenneally, 52, a veteran of the first world war, were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Strawberry Point, Monday, Nov. 25, the Rev. Father J. G. Fagan officiating. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery, with the Strawberry Point Legion in charge of the services at the grave.
Mr. Kenneally died at the veterans' hospital in Waukesha, Wis., Saturday, Nov. 22. He had been ill for the past thirty-three months.
Earl Leo Kenneally was born on a farm in Cox Creek township, April 05, 1895, the son of Thomas and Margaret Kenneally. He received his education in the school near his home. He was married to Miss Gladys Hamlett at St. Mary's church in Strawberry Point Feb. 03, 1920.
He also farmed in Cass and Sperry townships.
He enlisted at Boone, June 19, 1917, and served with the thirty-fourth Division. He received his discharge as a sergeant at Camp Dodge, May 18, 1919.
A member of the American Legion, Mr. Kenneally was prominent in Legion circles in the fourth district and in Clayton county for many years. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Strawberry Point.
He is survived by his wife and three sons, Bayazette, a student at Iowa State college, Ames; James, a first year law student at Iowa City; and Patrick, at home. Also two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Pugh of Strawberry Point and Mrs. Julia Servel of Oelwein, and one brother, David Kenneally.
Pallbearers were: Francis Farmer, Al Frick, r., Geo. Dunfrund, Jack Matthews, A. J. Johnson, and Arthur Dittmer.
