LITTLEPORT: This community was greatly saddened when it was learned on Thursday morning that Mrs. Minnie Brich had passed away at 3:40 a.m., June 29th, at the age of 76 years.

As Minnie Helgermann, she was born Dec. 14th, 1862, in Littleport, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Helgermann. At the age of 20 she was married to Jas. J. Brich, and to this union one son, William, was born.

Mrs. Brich helped her husband operate a general merchandise store for many years, and after his death she continued to operate the store with the help of her son.

Mrs. Brich was a member of the Sacred Heart church in Littleport, of the W.C.O.F. of Elkader, and of Fern Leaf camp No. 1665, R.N.A. of Littleport. She held the office of recorder for the R.N.A. for 30 years.

Mrs. Brich was a woman that took a great interest in her home and community. Her hobby was flowers inside the house and out in the yard.

Mrs. Brich was preceded in death by her husband and her son. Those left to mourn her are one brother, Edward Helgermann, of Rock Island, and one sister, Mrs. Albert Meder, of Elkader, and a number of nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends.

Services were held Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart church at Littleport. A solemn requiem mass was read by Father Olinger, acting as celebrant, Father Hammill of Edgewood acting as Deacon, Father Noonan of Volga City acting as sub-deacon, and Alfred Becker of Dubuque acting as master of ceremonies.

The sermon was delivered by Father Olinger, who also assisted at the services at the graveside. Burial was made in the Sacred Heart cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Helgermann of Rock Island, Ill., Floyd Helgermann of Moline, Ill., Miss Frances Schmitz of Mankato, Minn., Albert Meder, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Meder and Katie Wacker and son Maynard, all of Elkader; Earl Meder and son of Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Becker and family, George Baume and family, Miss Elizabeth Fatricius, all of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Wolf and Mrs. Alva Johnson, of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Niel Michael of Greeley, and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Phelps of Wadena.
