Dorothea K. Beckman died at Littleport Tuesday, August 9th, 1921, at 10:15 p.m., aged eighty years, eleven months and nine days, after an illness of five years caused by dropsy.
Deceased was born in Mecklingberg, Germany, on August 31, 1840, a daughter of William and Katherine Dahling. She came to this country in 1854 and on March 6th, 1857 was united in marriage at Guttenberg to Frank Beckman, who preceded her in death in 1888.
She is survived by five sons: Wm. Beckman, _______, S.D., Fred and Louis Beckman, Littleport, Albert Beckman, Elkader, Chas. Beckman, Owatonna, Minn.: one daughter, Mrs. R. W. Allbright, Rapid City, S.D.. Besides her children there are twenty-two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Wm. Dahling, Elkader; and three sisters, Mary Reichart, Dubuque; Anna Bencke, Maynard, and Lena Hildebrandt, Elkader, who mourn her death.
Deceased was a member of the Lutheran church and the Ladie's Aid Society and numbered her friends by the score, by all of whom she will be missed.
Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church in Littleport August 12, 1921, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fritchel officiating.
The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the community in the loss of a loved one.
