Miss Virginia Marilyn Smith and Dr. James L. Turner, both of Rochester, Minn., were married at the parsonage of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church in Elkader Sunday at 7 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated.
Miss Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight L. Smith, Newton, Iowa, former Elkader residents. Dr. Turner is the son of Mrs. Ina Turner, Stockton, Calif.
Attending the couple were Mrs. Smith, mother of the bride, and Dr. Frank A. Palazzo of the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
Mrs. Smith is a graduate of the Elkader high school and Iowa State college where she majored in dietetics. She took her year's internship at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester, Minn., and for the past year and a half has been consulting dietician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Her husband is a graduate of the Stockton high school Stockton, Calif. He took his pre-medic training at North Western University. He is a veteran of five years service, part of which was served in the South Pacific area. He received his master's degree at the University of Minnesota. He served his internship at the Passedant hospital, Chicago, and is now taking advance work at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. On completion of his work here, the couple will go to Oakland, Calif., to make their home.
