Matt - Wagner marriage - 1946

The marriage of Miss Allene Wagner to Donald E. Matt was solemnized at St. Joseph's church in Elkader Wednesday morning. The Rev. Father E. A. Fitzgerald officiated. Dwain Vorwald, cousin of the bride, and Edward Scheffert served as acolytes. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis M. Wagner of Elkader, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Matt. of St. Olaf. Maid of honor was Miss Helen Matt of Davenport, sister of the groom, and bridesmaids were Evelyn Moyna and Miss Marie Katschkowsky. John Miller, cousin of the bride, served as best man. Ushers were Lorin Frommelt, a cousin of the bride, and Louis Matt Jr., cousin of the groom.

The bride is a graduate of the Elkader high school and Junior college and for the past year and a half has been employed as an operator at the Northwestern Bell Telephone company in Elkader. The groom is a graduate of the Garnavillo high school and has since been assisting his father on the home farm, where the new home will be made. His parents are retiring and moving to Garnavillo where they have purchased a home.
