Hughes - Schmalfeld marriage - 1946

At the Frieden's Evangelical and Reformed church, Monday, January 14, Miss Norma Schmalfeld, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schmalfeld of Elkader became the bride of Delbert Hughes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hughes of Littleport. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Miss Bernice Schmalfeld, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Miss Eunice Schmalfeld, another sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Lorain Henning, cousin of the groom, served as best man.

The bride was a graduate of the Farmersburg high school in 1944 and has recently been employed at the Walgreen Drug Store at Elkader. The groom was a graduate of the Littleport high school in 1939 and has since been engaged in farming on his father's farm at Littleport where the new home will be made.
