In Response To: Olaus L. Hanse Obit (Lauri Z)

Olaus Ludvich Hanse was born in Morris, Minnesota, December 24, 1882 and passed away at his home in Spencer, Iowa, March 27, 1941, at the age of 58 years, 3 months, 3 days.

He attended rural schools in the vicinity of his birth, where he grew to manhood. July 28, 1909 in Stevens County, Minnesota, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Dunkin, who has been a faithful, devoted wife through the years, and now mourns his passing. There remain four sons and one daughter, to remember a father who always tried to bring them high ideals and purpose; Fred, LeRoy, Everett, of Spencer; Raymond of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Mrs. Ralph Cowan, also of Spencer.

The deceased also leaves six brothers and three sisters. William, Oscar, Carl, Andrew, Theodore and Victor, all of Morris, Minnesota; Mrs. Jens Anderson, Pennock, Minnesota; Mrs. George Gimberlin, Hibbing, Minnesota and Mrs. Carl Holweg, Lisbon, North Dakota.

Mr. Hanse has resided in Spencer for the past 25 years, coming here from the place of his birth. He was a carpenter by trade and took great pride in doing good work. He has worked on many buildings in and around Spencer, and those serve as monuments to his mechanical skill.

The decreased was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, at the age of fourteen; and his faith held steady and true through his illness and death. The loved ones cared for him tenderly, and he expressed his gratitude many times. The memories of all will be helpful through the years.

Funeral services were conducted in the Cobb Funeral Home, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. G.D. Serrill in charge. Mrs. Burdett Weieser sang two numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Jack Snyder at the piano.

Pallbearers; Ingvold Lidman, K.R. Camp, Lester Kelly, George Hein, Gerd Lambertus, and William Bahl. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, Iowa.
