A funeral service for Joseph Beck, 80 of Spencer will be held today, February 13, 2001, 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational Church in Spencer. The Rev. Tom Van Tassel, Wendy Van Tassel and Curtis Batschelet will officiate
Mr. Beck died Friday, February 9, 2001 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Casket bearers will be Lee Seeman, Maurice Coover, Roger Larson, Nile Brown, Allen Batschelet, Brian Batschelet and Randy Krukow
Honorary bearers will be Arlo Gritten, Dr. H.A. VanHofwegen, Keith Mugge, Robert Gibson and Jerry Duhn
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements
Joseph Sebastian Beck, the son of Joseph Sebastian and Karoline (Olesen) Beck, was born April 24, 1920 on the family farm near Greenville. He attended Greenville Schools and graduated from Greenville High School in 1937. Following high school he started farming
He married Lucile Bolyard on February 25, 1939 at the Baptist Church in Spencer. Following their marriage, he continued farming and raising cattle and hogs on the family farm. Following his retirement, they moved to Center Lake and in 1993, they moved to Spencer. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Church
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; and one sister
Mr. Beck is survived by his wife; two sons; Joseph S. and his wife, Elizabeth Beck of Arlington, Virginia and Jon Beck of Greenville; two granddaughters; two sisters Anna Hugunin and Alma Spears both of Spencer; other relatives and many friends
