Gustav Adolph Beck, 93 Spencer, died Saturday at Longhouse Residence in Spencer
Services for Mr. Beck will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Nathaniel C. Perry will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery
Casket bearers will be Ralph Beck, Wayne Peterson, Duane Schoning, Dean Seibel, Vernon Lamb and Earl Klaessy
The Warner Funeral Home, Spencer is in charge of arrangements
The son of Jacob and Mathilda (Dahms) Beck, he was born February 20, 1895 near Spencer. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area where he received his early education
He married Harriett Taylor in the Methodist Parsonage in Spencer, December 10, 1917. They spent their entire married life in and near Spencer, except for six years when Mr. Beck farmed near Hartley. His chosen profession was farming, but after he suffered a heart attack in 1939, he quit farming and moved to Spencer. He worked 20 years for C.D. Farm Service, retiring in 1959. He then became custodian at the First Baptist Church for seven years before becoming custodian at the shelter house in Leach Park. He worked there for seven years in addition to a few years as custodian at the Senior Center. Mr. Beck was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters
Survivors include his wife; one son and his wife, Robert and Dorothy of Spencer; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Myer of Spencer
