In Response To: Grave of Anna Brose (Ken Carpenter)

This is what I located for you.

Annie Josephine (Suits) Pierce Brose was the daughter of Josiah Suits and Jane Thompson. When she married Charles Brose in Osceola, Clarke, Iowa on November 21, 1882, it was listed that she had been married before to a man named William Pears or Pierce. At that marriage, John L. Carpenter would have been 20 years of age. I located a marriage on July 25, 1869 in Wiota, Lafayette county, Wisconsin between Josie Suits and William Pears. At that marriage, John L. Carpenter would have been 6-1/2 years of age.

Possibility???: Anna Josephine Suits had a child, John L. Carpenter on December 22, 1862 in Lafayette county, Wisconsin by William Carpenter, son of Jeremiah and Eliza Carpenter. William is listed as married in the 1863 draft registration in Lafayette county. He marries again on May 3, 1864 to Anna Maria Schemerhorn and has more children. John L. lives with his grandparents and is raised by them. Anna marries William Pears in 1869 and then Charles Brose in 1882. John L. never appears to live with his mother in census records.
