Clear Lake - Ruth C. Olinger Zobel, 68, of Clear ake, died Friday (Feb. 24, 1989) at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. James Louk, of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

She was born on Oct. 16, 1920 in Garner, a daughter of Arley and Agnes (Christie) Blickenderfer. She attended school in the Garner and Klemme areas and graduated from Klemme High School in 1936 at the age of 16. She then attended what is now the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, during 1938.

She taught in rural schools from 1938 to 1944 and farmed until 1964.

She attended Hamilton Business School, then worked as a bookkeeper for Home Installation, Mason City. She retired in 1982.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose and held numerous offices in the organization. She also was a member of the Quilting Guild.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Olinger, Mason City, Ellery Olinger, Clear Lake, and William Olinger, Mason City; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Betty Mikulich, Las Vegas, Nev., and one brother, Homer Blickenderfer, Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
