Funeral services for Alvin R. Ridenour, 90, former Tipton area resident, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home April 30 with the Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leonard Port, Harold Ford, Don Armstrong, Walter Fankhauser, Lawrence Brown and Dale Rekemeyer.

Mr. Ridenour died at Veterans hospital, Des Moines, April 26 following an extended illness.

The son of Cornelius and Sarah A. Barklay Ridenour, he was born at Tipton Nov. 18, 1888 and attended the rural Cedar county and Tipton schools. He was married to Edwina H. Pundmann at Tipton Nov. 10, 1923.

A retired farmer, he had lived at Knoxville for 25 years. He served as a corporal in the US army during World War I.

Mr. Ridenour is survived by his wife, Durant and 2 sisters, Ida Ridenour, Tipton and Mrs. Helen Lage, Davenport. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother.
