Final rites for Francis (Franz) Strackbein, 84, Lowden, were held at Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, with the Rev. Paul Jordan officiating. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lewis and Erwin Strackbein, Hubert Gade, Leroy Boettger, Wilfred and Henry Niermeyer. Mrs. Walter Helmold was organist.

Mrs. Strackbein died at Colonial Manor, Wheatland, April 4.

The son of Louis and Sarah Andersen Strackbein, he was born at Lowden Aug. 29, 1894. He was married to Lydia Conrad at Lowden June 28, 1922. He served as a rural mail carrier for 40 years.

He was a veteran of World War I, a charter member of the Lillis-Deerberg post of the American Legion at Lowden and a member of the Veterans of World War I of the USA. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ where he served as financial secretary for many years. He was also a member of the Lowden Historical society.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia, a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Faith) Hein, Marion; 2 sons, Reuben and Kent, both of Lowden; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
