EXPIRES SUDDENLY LAST EVENING, AS RESULT OF HEART FAILURE, WHEN ENTERING HIS BARN.
"I have gotten through the heat of today in good shape and I guess I can stand the cool of the evening", said Thaddeus Prall, a pioneer and well known man of this county about seven o'clock last evening, talking to C.D. Dennison at his home on South Locust street and turned away to enter his barn. As he entered the door of the barn he dropped to the ground dead, the result of heart disease, from which he had suffered for forty-five years. Several times in his life he had severe attacks but as he grew older he seemed to get better and was feeling as well as usual yesterday and in good spirits when, without warning, death claimed him as its own.

Was Born in 1826.
Mr. Prall was born in Washington County, Penn., on the 22nd day of October, 1826, and was the son of Gabriel and Mary (Heaton) Prall, also natives of Pennsylvania. In 1838 his father moved his family to Ohio, locating near Cumberland, Guernsey County, that state. The father there bought a tract of heavy timber land which he cleared up and put under cultivation and made of it a good farm. In 1846 he sold the farm and moved to Clarke county, Ind., where he and his wife died not long after. The son, Thaddeus, grew to manhood in Ohio and received the common school education of the time. He worked in the capacity of a farm hand in Indiana until 1854 when he moved to Adams county, Ill., where he bought a tract of timber land, improving the same into a good farm. In 1869 he came to Cass county, making the trip by team, and settled in Grove township.

Was Twice Married
Mr. Prall was twice married, his first wife being Rebecca J. Prather, a native of Indiana, who died in the county in 1887. His second wife, who survives him, was Nancy J. Paterick, also a native of Indiana. Of the first marriage the surviving children are Columbus and Lee of Grove township, this county; Ed Prall of this city: Mrs. Elizabeth A. Brenniman; a resident of Pocohonta county, this state, and Mrs. Posella DeBusk, widow of the late M.R. DeBusk, living in Brush, Col. Of the second marriage two children were born, Francis N. Prall and Ella M. Prall, both at home. He also leaves four brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Wilson Prall of this city; E.H. Prall of Washington County, Kansas; Minton Prall of Parigon, Ind., and Lee Prall of Washington state. The sisters are Mrs. Martha Anderson of Martinsville, Ind., and Mrs. Mary A. Smith of Sulphur Springs, Ark.

Came to Atlantic in 1887
Deceased was a Whig until the organization of the republican party, when he became a member of the organization. He never sought political office however. He was a member of the M.E. church and in his life followed consistently its teachings and doctrines. For twenty years he had been retired from active pursuits, having removed in 1887 from the farm to Grove township to this city, locating at the home where he died, on South Locust street. He was a quiet man and one who believed in doing to others as he would be done by. The world which knew him will mourn his passing and is better for having lived.
The funeral services will be held at four o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the M.E. church, the Rev. Billingsley officiating, and the interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery.
