Funeral services for Roy Wilbur Ruth, 68, of Atlantic, who at one time farmed in the Adair area, were held Friday June 16, 1978 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Interment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, east of Exira, Iowa. He died Tuesday, June 13, at his home in Atlantic. Mr Ruth, son of Daniel Edwin & Laura Mae Giles Ruth, was born April 17, 1910, near Rea Heights, SD. He and Dorothea A. Kimm were married Oct 3, 1935, near Adair and they farmed in Adair and Guthrie Counties before moving to Atlantic in 1962. He had been a service station manager and tank wagon operator until retiring in 1974. Survivors include his wife, Dorothea, his mother, Laura Ruth of Guthrie Center; 5 brothers, Howard of Harlan, IA; Dale of Nassau, MN; Joe and Harry of Perry, IA; and Dallas of Pollock Pines, CA; and 4 sisters, Pearl Coleman of Chadwick, MO; Mrs Harry (Gladys) Buttjer of Osceola, IA; Mrs Paul (Betty) Hill of Colorado Springs, CO and Mrs Byron (Ellen) Campbell of Guthrie Center, IA. He was preceded in death by his father in Feb 1957.
