Former Audubon County
Man Died In Atlantic

Edward F. Lewis, 77, a life-long
resident of Cass and Audubon
counties, died at 4:00 p. m. Satur-
(d)ay at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Alice Scott, in Atlantic, fol-
lowing a lingering illness. Mr.
Lewis had been in poor health two
years and had been in a critical
condition since suffering a para-
lytic stroke five weeks ago.

He was born March 21, 1860, in
Audubon county, a son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. I. V. D. Lewis. In
July, 1891, Mr. Lewis and Miss
Blanch E. Spry were married in
Audubon county. They spent all
their married life in Audubon and
Cass counties, residing at Anita
from 1907 to 1933. Mrs. Lewis
died several years ago. Two sons
and a daughter also preceded him
in death.

Surviving are three sons and a
daughter, Carl E. Lewis of Atkin-
son, Neb., Earl R. Lewis of Casey,
Lafe E. Lewis of Genoa, Neb., and
Mrs. Scott at whose home he died;
seventeen grandchildren; a broth-
er, William Lewis of Randolph,
Neb., and two sisters, Mrs. Bina
Spry and Mrs. Stella Hawk of
Anita.

Funeral services were held at
1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at
the Roland, Peacock and Baxter fun-
eral home. The Rev. C. W. Mc-
Creight, pastor of the United Pres-
byterian church, officiated. Burial
was in the Bowen cemetery east of
Brayton.

Note: Parents were Isaac Van Dorsey Lewis and Mary Jane White.
