"FORMER CUMBERLAND MAN LAIN TO REST SUNDAY AFTERNOON."
The last rites for Jacob (Jim) Branson Landon, 63, who passed away at his home in Massena, Wednesday night, were held from the Massena Methodist Church, Sunday afternoon with John Alexander officiating at the service. Mr. Landon was born in Cass County (Iowa) October 18, 1887 and spent his entire life in the county in which he was born, many years of which were in the Cumberland locality. He was the son of John and Suzan (Eblen) Landon. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary McClain in Atlantic, October 1, 1913. Surviving is his widow and five children; Ronald ("BOB") of Cumberland, Mrs. Arthur Lenz of near Nodaway; Mrs. Clair Erickson of Cumberland; Marvin Landon of Springfield, Missouri; and Mrs. Robert Freshour of Corning; fifteen grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. George Starlin of Cumberland, and five brothers, Franbk and Joe of Atlantic, Charles and Ralph of Cumberland and Demas Abraham of St. Charles. Casket bearers were Delbert Starlin, George Starlin Jr., Alton Landon, Wendell Landon, John Landon and George Landon. Mrs. Ed Wagner and Mrs. H.W. Hosfelt were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Robert Peel accompanied Mrs. Louis Platt. Mrs. Mildred Follman, Mr. Arthur Taylor and Wray Wohlenhaupt who sang "In the Garden", Does Jesus Care" and "I won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone." Interment was made in the Victoria Center Cemetery.
