CHARLES B. LEWIS, COUNTY PIONEER, DIES HERE TODAY
Had Been in Ill Health for Several Years. Death Due to Heart Disease.Charles Bruce Lewis, long time Cass county resident, died at his home, 1200 Birch street, at ??? this morning, death resulting from heart trouble. Deceased had been in poor health for several years and bedfast for the last six months.
Deceased was born July 28, 1854 in Scotland county, Mo., the son of Henry S. and Mary Lewis. He was married to Martha Ellen Williams Oct. 21, 1883, and lived near Marne until 1900, when they moved to a farm southeast of Atlantic about five miles. They lived here until moving to this city last November.
Three Children.
He is survived by his widow and three children, Loyd E. Lewis of Fremont, Neb., Charles Ross Lewis of Grinnell and Mrs. Norma B. Williams of Detroit. One daughter, Mrs. Roy Welton, wife of the former cashier of the now defunct Iowa State bank here, died Aug 6(?), 1924. One sister, Mrs. Silas Davidson of Ponca City, Okla., and four grandchildren survive. Deceased was a member of the Atlantic Methodist Episcopal church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the Atlantic Methodist church and interment will be in the mausoleum at the Atlantic cemetery.Atlantic News-Telegraph, Tuesday, March 8, 1927
