FORMER ATLANTIC WOMAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Mrs. C. B. Lewis, former Atlantic resident, died yesterday at the home of her daughter in Seaside, Cal. Mrs. Lewis left here about 1927. The body will be returned to Atlantic for services and burial. Funeral arrangements have not been concluded.Atlantic News-Telegraph, Tuesday, March 13, 1951
Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. C. B. Lewis, 90
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ellen Lewis, 90, former resident of Atlantic and the Marne vicinity, who died Monday at Seaside, Cal., will be held at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home next Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. A. D. Steffenson will officiate and interment is to be in the Atlantic cemetery. The remains will arrive from California Monday noon and will be at the funeral home until the service hour.
Mrs. Lewis, the daughter of Nathan and Ann Williams, was born at South Bend, Ind., Jan. 25, 1861, and was married to Charles Bruce Lewis at Marne Oct. 21, 1883. They resided in the Marne vicinity until 1900, when they moved to a farm southeast of Atlantic. In 1926, they moved to Atlantic upon retiring and Mrs. Lewis had lived in California since the death of her husband March 8, 1927. She was a member of the Atlantic Methodist church.
Surviving are two sons, Lloyd E. Lewis of Oregon City, Ore., and Charles Ross Lewis of Corvallis, Ore.; a daughter, Mrs. Norma B. Williams of Seaside, Cal.; a sister, Miss Aletha Belle Williams of Pasadena, Cal.; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Jessie Welton, died Aug. 6, 1925.Atlantic News-Telegraph, Wednesday, March 14, 1951
