Hello Pauline,
I subscribe to ancestory.com and I did look up the issue you posted above. The newspapers on ancestory indicate a hit if the names you indicated appear on that page of the newspaper... so a hit does not necessarily mean that the information found is about the person you are looking for.
The following is comes from the newspaper.
Iowa Recorder, The (Greene, Iowa) > 1928 > February > 29Miss Alice Crouse, of Zearing, is a guest in the John Otterstein home.
Zearing and John are highlighted and the only highlighted words on that page of the paper. Zearing being the name of a town. When I entered Joh Zearing.. I had additional hits for additional papers in Butler County.. In all of them Zearing refers to a town.
There is a 1930 census record for a John Zearing living in Iowa but he, his wife and three children live in Monroe County. I don't know if this is the John Zearing that you are looking for information on. His parents were both born in Iowa and he's a farmer.
Name: John Zearing
Age: 38
Estimated birth year: 1891
Birthplace: Iowa
Relation to Head-of-house: Head
Race: White
Home in 1930: Wayne, Monroe, Iowa
