Joanne M. Wulfekuhle, 81 of Independence, IA died on Saturday June 12, 2021, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living Center in Independence, IA.

Joanne was born on January 27, 1940, the daughter of Burrell J. and Verna F. (Houska) Remling. She was a 1958 graduate of Lamont Highschool in Lamont, IA. After graduating school, she worked at the Farmers Savings Bank in Lamont. On the August 18, 1958, she married Arnold A. Wulfekuhle in Strawberry Point, IA. They made their home on a farm in Masonville, IA. In 1961 the couple purchased a farm near Independence, IA and they cared for that land until 2005. Joanne spent many years helping on the farm and in 1996 she started grooming pets at her son’s business Pet’s Allowed in Independence. She loved taking care of the animals for many years and retired in 2005. Joanne was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Joanne loved to dance, and for many years she and Arnold went dancing in Manchester with many of their friends throughout the years.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Julie) Wulfekuhle, Independence, IA, her grandsons Andrew (Kelsey) Wulfekuhle, Lone Tree, IA, Jordon (Haley) Wulfekuhle, Independence, IA, and Taylor Wulfekuhle, Lone Tree, IA, three great grandchildren, Bailey McGrew, Jackson Wulfekuhle, and Decker Wulfekuhle, two sisters-in-law, Irma Wulfekuhle and Helen Wulfekuhle, both of Manchester, IA.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Burrell and Verna Remling, and her husband Arnold Wulfekuhle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday June 15, 2021, at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, IA with Rev. David Beckman Presiding. Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Independence. Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 8 PM on Monday June 14, 2021 at the Reiff Family Center - Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence. A Rosary will be said at 3:45 PM on Monday.
