The McBirnie family of Boone County are my relatives - Robert McBirnie (b.abt 1834-9) emigrated first, with his wife, Agnes, nee DEWAR, from Scotland (Robert himself was actually born in Ireland, but Agnes was Scottish) They had at leat 8 children, including David, Alexander, James, Robert, Jean, Margaret and Agnes. They live in Des Moines in the 1870s. In the 1890s Robert's nephew William came with his wife Euphemia nee RAMAGE. They had David, Leslie, William and James. Allegedly one of the McBirnies became County SHeriff? In 1921, the family were visited briefly by Martin G R Stewart, William's nephew, his sister Sarah's son, who was en route to California. Is the McBirnie family still in Boone County today? We have had no contact since the 1920s.
