WATERLOO — Robert F. "Penny" Penaluna, 79, of Fott Myers, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, from complications of a massive stroke on Dec. 30,1999.
He was born July 13, 1920, in Charles City, son of William Floyd and Hazel Winans Penaluna. He married Jean M. Huston in 1943 in Waterloo.
Mr. Penaluna graduated from the University of Iowa in 1943 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as a Seaman First Class. He owned the Credit Bureau of Waterloo from 1949 to 1985.
Survived by his wife; a son, Tom of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Cathie Sorenson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Susan Gorsh of Clinton; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Dorothy Seitz of Junction City, Kan.
Memorial services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery chapel, with burial in the cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
