Injuries by car cause death of Horace McClure, Cedar Falls man struck while 240,
crossing street there Saturday, Aug. 24, 1935

Cedar Falls - Horace W. McClure 73, 409 Washington Street, died at Sartori Memorial Hospital at 7:10 am Monday, [Aug. 26, 1935] death due to injuries caused when he was struck by an automobile Saturday evening.
Mr. McClure had a fracture of the right shoulder, concussion of the brain, brain hemorrhage, and possible fracture of the left hip.
The accident occurred at 7:30 pm as Mr. McClure was crossing Washington Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets. The car, which struck him, was driven by Paul M. Dentsen, 29, Route 3, who was unable to avoid the accident.
Mr. McClure was born in DeKalb County, Illinois [census records stated Wisconsin] on Sept. 18, 1861. He spent the last 22 years of his life in Cedar Falls. Mr. McClure was active in the Modern Woodman Lodge, of which he was secretary.
Surviving are the widow, Julia McClure; five daughters and one son: Mrs. H.A. Noltensmeier, Waterloo; Mrs. Pearl Hines, Montana; Mrs. Helen Robbins, Michigan; Mrs. Ralph Palmer, Cedar Falls; Grace McClure, Estherville and [Hugh] McClure, Estherville.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, six-great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother in California.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, [Aug. 29, 1935] at 2 p.m. at Brown Chapel.
