H.Wayne Black was born September 16, 1904 in Mellville Township on the family farm. He died July 19, 1956 in the Audubon County Hospital. He attended public schools in Audubon and after graduation from A.H.S. he attended the University of Iowa where he received his law degree in 1932. He was in partnership with Charles White until 1934 when he joined the FHA in Des Moines, however, he returned to Audubon and practiced law and lived in Audubon until his death.
Wayne Black was a former mayor of Audubon, served several terms as Audubon County attorney, and was the former county Democratic Chairman.
At the time of his death, he was survived by this wife, Helen, his father, Ben, and five sons.
He is buried in Maple grove Cemetery.
