Graveside services for Virginia Marsh, 81, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Brayton, were conducted Sept. 26, 2005 at the Exira Cemetery in Exira, with Pastor Steven Frock officiating.

Virginia “Verlee” Marsh, the daughter of Martin and Iva Jayne Jensen was born July 14, 1924, at her parents’ home west of Exira and died Aug. 28, 2005, at the Devon Gables Nursing Home in Tucson, AZ.

Verlee was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She attended the Exira Community Schools and graduated from Exira High School. She then taught in rural schools.

In the early 1940s, she married Marvel Larsen in Elk Horn. Two children were born to this union, Marvel Larsen Jr. and Virginia Lee Larsen. Marvel died in an auto accident in the early 1950s. Verlee was employed as sales person at a clothing store for a short time.

In 1952, she married Joseph Marsh. One son, Gary Marsh was born to this union. They operated several farms, then in 1958, they purchased a farm west of Brayton. In 1981, they retired from farming and sold the farm. They moved to Casa Grande, AZ, and then later moved to Tucson. Joseph died March 11, 2004.

While living in Iowa, Verlee was an active member of the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husbands, was her daughter-in-law, Suzy Larsen, her parents, two infant sisters and her brother, Clyde Jensen.

Virginia is survived by her children: Marvel Larsen of Tucson; Virginia (Ginny) and husband, Bob Parks of Ames; and Gary and wife, Danette Marsh of Houston, TX; her grandchildren: Brian Parks of Ames; Kristin Parks of Des Moines; and Sara Marsh of Houston; her sisters-in-law: Pat Marsh of Atlantic; and Shirley Jensen of Exira, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
