Funeral services for Frances A. Walters, 86, were conducted Aug. 24, 2005 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, with Pastor Walter Kukkonen officiating. Interment was in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. Casket bearers were: Curt Olsen, Kevin Olsen, Keven Heckman, Mike Trenary, Preston Walters, Nicholas Walters and Tim Walters.

Frances Arlene Walters, the daughter of Nis and Katie Mikkelsen Andersen, was born June 26, 1919, on her parents’ farm in Audubon County, north of Kimballton and died Aug. 21, 2005, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon.

Frances was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church northeast of Kimballton and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon. She attended rural school at “Spring Valley,” southwest of Fiscus. She helped on the family farm and also helped other families.

On April 10, 1937, she was united in marriage to Folmer Walters at the Congregational Church in Atlantic. They operated several farms in the Audubon County area until they retired from farming. They moved into Audubon in 1960. Frances was employed by the Audubon Community Schools where she was the school lunch manager. She retired from the school in 1987 after working there for 27 years.

She belonged to several card clubs and helped in her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Selma and husband, Charles Klinkefus; brothers-in-law: Henry Walters, Harry and Selma Walters, Verner Walters and Edvald Jorgensen and sisters-in-law: Meta Brown and Anna and husband, Viggo Jacobsen.

Frances is survived by her husband, Folmer Walters; her children: Gary and wife, Delores Walters, Atlantic; Kathryn and husband, Jim Martin of Atlantic; Judy and husband, Gary Duffield of Fort Dodge; and Joan and husband, Gary Miller of Guthrie Center; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her brothers: Raymond and wife, Eunice Andersen of Audubon; Donald and wife, Dixie Andersen of Irwin; Richard and wife, Bonnie of Homer, AL; her sisters-in-law: Gladys Jorgensen and Nina Walter, both of Anita; Flay Walters of Audubon; her brother-in-law, Louis Brown of Humboldt, NE; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
