Funeral services for David Earl Borkowski, 49, of Atlantic, were conducted April 26, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Pastor Guy Fisher, of the First Assembly of God officiating. Interment was with military honors at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

David Borkowski, the son of Lester LaVern and Thelma Dittman Borkowski, was born March 29, 1956, in Audubon and died April 22, 2005, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.

David grew up and attended school in Audubon. He married Diane Lucille Popp on July 8, 1995, in Atlantic. The couple lived in Atlantic and David worked as a concreter for the City of Atlantic for the last nine years for Henningsen Construction for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Preceding him in death were his father, Lester Borkowski; his brother, Donald Borkowski; sister, Beverly Parkhurst; sister-in-law, Jayanna Borkowski; grandparents; father-in-law, Eugene Popp and brother-in-law, Gary Allen Popp.

David is survived by his wife, Diane Borkowski of Atlantic; three sons: Kip Spencer and wife, Tori of Audubon; Travis Andersen of Brayton and Jacob Swensen of Audubon; daughter, Misty Borkowski of Mitchel, NE; stepdaughter, April Campbell; two grandchildren: Gage Spencer and Hannah Spencer of Audubon; mother, Thelma Borkowski of Audubon, five sisters: Rita Lakota and husband, Jim of Goodman, MS; Dolores Gourley of Snyder, NE; Gloria Mulford and husband, Gary of Audubon; Lori Hanson and husband, Pete of Audubon; Penny Lafoy and her husband, Randy of Audubon; brother-in-law, Charlie Parkhurst of Harlan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marilyn and Mike Blanchard of Atlantic; two brothers-in-law: David Popp and wife, Tammy of Atlantic and Zachary Blanchard and friend, Echo Pope of Omaha; sister-in-law Frannie Nissen and husband, Dan of Elkhorn; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
