Christen Jensen Dies In California At Age of 87
(1952 Obituary)

Christen Jensen, 87, a long time resident of Audubon County, died March 6 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P.C. Clausen in Gerber, California. He had been living with his daughter for the past five months.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Ebenezer church with Rev. M.P. Bollesen officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer cemetery.

Mr. Jensen was born the son of Karen and Jens Jensen in Herresturp, Denmark on April 16, 1864. In I884, he immigrated to the United States and first settled in Independence, Ia. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1891 he was married to Eva Marie Jensen. The couple farmed for some time near Elk Horn and then moved to the Ebenezer vicinity in Audubon county. They farmed here until retiring in 1946 at which time they lived with their son-in-law Lauritz Madsen.

Mrs. Jensen died on September 25, 1950.

Mr. Jensen is survived by five sons, John C., Simon L., Alex P., Joseph P., and Alvin S.H. Jensen all of Audubon; two daughters, Mrs. Peter Clausen, Gerber, Calif., and Mrs. Lauritz Madsen, Audubon, 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Christen Jensen Services Held
(1952 Obituary)

Funeral services were held Thursday for Christen Jensen, 87, who died last Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Peter Clausen, in Gerber, California. The Rev. M.P Bollesen officiated at the services held at Ebenezer Lutheran church.

He was a member of the Lutheran church.

Interment was in Ebenezer cemetery.

Born in Denmark on April 16, 1864, Mr. Jensen came to Iowa at the age of 20 to settle at Independence, Iowa. He farmed there until 1888, when he moved to Elk Horn, where, two years later, he was married to Eva M. Jensen. She preceded him in death in 1950.

Mr. Jensen farmed around Elk Horn and Douglas until 1946, when he retired to live with another daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lauritz Madsen, in Audubon.

He moved to Gerber two years ago to live with Mrs. Clausen and her family, and stayed there until his death last Thursday.

Survivors include five sons, Simon, John, Alvin, Alex of Audubon, and Joseph of Coon Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Lauritz Madsen of Audubon, and Mrs. Peter Clausen of Gerber, Calif.

Fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers included Soren Schmidt, Otto Jensen, Chris Winther, Jens Andersen, Alfred Christensen and George Hansen.
