had been looking after his cattle.
That afternoon he assisted in the
dehorning of some cattle at the T. B.
Jones place northeast of town. About
midnight Mrs. Gault was aroused by
his coughing, she went to him and he
complained of a pain in his breast.
At a few moments before the end
Mrs. Gault was again aroused by
this coughing, she went to him, then
to the kitchen after something and
on her return he was dying, and he
did not speak during the remaining
few moments.

"The body was prepared for burial
by the Grigg Undertaking Company
of Amarillo (TX).

"Funeral services were conducted
at the Methodist church at 2 p. m.,
Tuesday, by Rev. I. T. Huckabee of
Miami (TX), former minister here.

"The ceremonies at the cemetery
were conducted by the Vega A. F. &
A. M. Judge Jas. E. May was the
Master of ceremonies.

"The remains were laid to rest in
the Vega (TX) cemetery.

"Besides a host of friends, he leaves
a wife, Mrs. C. R. Gault, four daugh-
ters, Mrs. B. W. Wiseman, Mrs. Rex
McNabb, the Misses Maggie and Ruth
Gault; a son, Bud; one brother, A. C.
Gault of Quinton, Okla.; four sisters,
Mrs. E. D. Powell of Ottawa, Kansas;
Mrs. Mildred Hash and Mrs. Mary
Bintner of Exira, Iowa; Mrs. C. W.
Houston of Los Angeles, California.

"The Sentinel and its many readers
extend their heartfelt sympathy to
the bereaved family in the loss of a
dear one who has played such a part
as pioneer of Oldham county."

Charles R. Gault, born Abt. 1868 in Exira, Audubon Co., IA; died March 1925 in Texas. He was the son of Richard Gault and Mary Leffingwell Herrick.
