OBITUARY

Blanche Ella Dimick, youngest child
of John J. and Fanny Dimick, was
born in Johnson county, Iowa, July
12, 1881. She moved to Boone about
twenty years ago. After some years
she went to Iowa Falls, where she
nursed in a hospital four years. Miss
Dimick left there on account of her
health, went to Chicago and entered
the employ of Marshall Field & Co.,
where she remained till her last sick-
ness came on. That she was valued
as an employee is assured by the fact
that they paid her salary up to the
time of her death, December 18, 1924.

Miss Dimick was noted for her con-
genial disposition. One of her most
characteristic traits was to think of
others before self. It seemed her
motto of life was to send forth the
rays of sunshine, congeniality, good
will and happiness. She was unex-
pectedly called to Exira for the fun-
eral of her nephew, Frank Dimick,
and his son, John Franklin, Nov. 19.
At that time Miss Dimick was in
good health. No one would have
thought she would be the next to
answer the summons.

She was home about a week when
she took sick, December 1st. Mrs.
McIlvain, her sister, was called to
Chicago December 5th and John M.
Dimick was called to her bedside on
December 7th.

After a few days it was thought
she was recovering and Mr. Dimick
returned home. One week later he
received another telegram summoning
him to Chicago as Miss Dimick had
taken a sudden turn for the worse
and gradually sank away till the end
came. Mrs. McIlvain was constantly
with her sister, and all that medical
skill, kind friends and relatives could
was done to make her as comfortable
as possible. Miss Dimick was a pa-
tient and cheerful sufferer, never
complaining, but wore a smile of
cheerfulness and encouragement for
all.

She leaves to mourn her loss three
brothers and four sisters: George G.
of Exira, Alte Thompson of Syracuse,
N. Y.; Mary B. Dryden of Exira,
Calvin I of Brayton, John M. of
Exira, Julia E. Crees of Exira and
Jessie A. McIlvain of Boone, and other
relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by
Rev. Robert N. Chord from the John
M. Dimick home, Sunday afternoon,
December 21, at 1:30 o'clock. Inter-
ment was in Exira Cemetery.

In autumn will be dead;
And all winter long 'neath the cover of snow
Their beauty will be hid.
