Obituary from funeral card:

Kermit William Martin, the son of John William

and Minnie Marie Littlefield Martin, was born April

9, 1911 on his parents' farm in Audubon Township,

Audubon County, near Exira, IA and died April 9,

1998 at the Exira Care Center in Exira at the age of

87 years.

He was baptized at the Exira Christian Church.

He attended rural school Audubon Township No. 3,

"The Ludwig School", then helped operate the fam-

ily farm.

On April 29, 1942 he was inducted into the U.S.

Army. During his tour of duty he served in the Euro-

pean Theater. He saw action during the Battle of the

Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and

returned to the family farm. Kermit farmed with his

brother, Basil, and helped him raise his children John

and Sharon after the death of Basil's wife, Katheryn.

Kermit continued to farm until he retired. He lived

on the farm and enjoyed attending horse shows and

horse sales. He became a resident of 'the Exira Care

Center on April 3, 1991. He was a member of the

Exira Christian Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his

brothers and sisters: Cecil and his wife, Alma Martin;

Basil and his wife Katheryn Martin; Cassius Martin;

his sisters-in-law: Lucinda Martin and Bertha

"Betty" Martin.

Survivors include his sister, Sarah Elizabeth

(Beth) Akers of Exira, IA and his' sister-in-law,

Lillian Martin of Albuquerque, NM; nieces, neph-

ews, other relatives and friends.

The family of Mr. Martin appreciate the many

expressions of sympathy and concen. Everyone is

invited to meet with the family in the church fellow-

ship room following the committal service.
