Cecil G. Martin, the son of John William and
Minnie M. Littlefield Martin, was born in
Audubon County, Iowa near Exira and died at St.
Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at the age
of 75 years, 10 months, and 21 days.He received his education in the Exira schools.
After graduation from Exira High School he
attended Des Moines University in Des Moines,
Iowa. He later attended Baker's School in Los
Angeles, California where he learned his vocation
as a baker.On July 14, 1931 he married Alma Kathryn
Mumford in San Diego, California. After their
marriage they lived in California until they moved
to Exira, Iowa in 1970. He worked in bakeries and
the last part of his career he was superintendent of
a bakery in Los Angeles. During World War II he
served with the U.S. Army as a baking instructor
both in the U.S. and in Europe.Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Alma, and sister
Beth, Mrs. Harold Akers, Sr., both of Exira; 3
brothers: Basil of Elk Horn, Iowa; Kermit of Exira,
Iowa; and Cassius Martin of Albuquerque, New
Mexico, and several nieces, nephews, and other
relatives.The family of Mr. Martin appreciates the many
expressions of sympathy and concern received.
Everyone is invited to meet with them at the Harold
Akers, Sr. residence at 300 S. Carthage following
the committal service.
