Wayne, Howard (1940-2004)

Howard Wayne Black II was born November 11, 1940 at the Carroll County Hospital. He was the second son of H. Wayne Black and Helen Redman Black. Howard, later to be known as Wayne, lived in Audubon until he graduated from Audubon High School(1958),at which time he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Wayne completed his tour of duty with the Marine Corps in 1961 and remained in San Diego,California until he moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1967.

In 1969 he moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma City College. He graduated from OCU with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1972 and returned to Arizona in 1973.

Wayne worked as a tax auditor/investigator for several cities in the Phoenix metropolitan area as well as a organized crime agent for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. The last twenty years he spent owning and operating Wayne Black & Associates, a successful tax preparation business in Tempe, Arizona.

Wayne died on May 31, 2004 at the Veteran's Hospital, The irony is that he was born on Veteran's day and died on Memorial day. Wayne is buried in the National Veteran's Cemetery in north Phoenix, Arizona. He is survived by one son, Richard-living in San Diego, Ca. and four brothers, James, John, Neal, and Brian. He was preceeded in death by a Son, Howard Wayne III, and his parents, who are buried in Maple grove cemetery in Audubon.
