Jesse Williams Surprises
Natives by Taking unto
Himself a Wife

Exira people were greatly sur-
prised Monday when word reached
here of the marriage of Mr. Jesse
Williams and Mrs. Ethel Akers
which occurred in Atlantic at 2:30
that afternoon. The ceremony
took place at the Methodist par-
sonage in that city and was per-
formed by Rev. Simpson. E. L.
Williams, brother of the groom
was in attendance.

We had noticed that Cupid had
been shooting arrows at this popu-
lar couple for several weeks but we
little realized the mischief he was
doing until alas! it was too late.

The bride was seen wending her
way to the depot Thursday after-
noon with a suit case and a broad
smile; but the smile which she
carried away with her was naught
compared with the one she brought
back. She visited friends in Atlan-
tic until Monday when she was
met by Mr. Williams and they
immediately pulled off the stunt
which always marks the end of a
successful movie.

The groom is the proprietor of
the Williams Cafe; is a very suc-
cessful business man and has scores
of good true friends who wish him
and his bride, who is also very
popular, all the good things which
this world affords.

Note: Parents of Ethel May "Effie" Parrott (1879-1942) were William James "Bill" Parrott and Angeline "Ann" Turner. Her first husband was Ralph A. Akers, Jr.. Her second husband was Jesse Stephen Williams. Her third husband was Frank Campbell.
Parents of Jesse Stephen Williams (1871-1932) were Thomas Williams and Ephamia "Ethna" Maple. His first wife was Ida B. Liser. His second wife was Ethel May "Effie" Parrott.
